Team event: brickfox 22 // Stuttgart 21
Multichannel meets multichannel ... at the brickfox team event 2022, the Multichannel Software Crew takes a look behind the scenes of one of the largest multichannel infrastructure projects in Europe: Stuttgart 21. With its impressive channels under the city, the railway project does not have quite as many channels to the "outside" as the brickfox software ... but from 2025 you should be able to get from Stuttgart to Munich in 1,5 hours ... and that's pretty fast!
But now let's start again from the beginning. We were delighted to be able to welcome almost the entire brickfox team last week to the ITS at Stuttgart Central Station for a tour of the Stuttgart 21 construction site. When a team comes together live and face to face, it is always a very special moment in times of remote work and home office! And it is even more special when the team travels from different regions of Germany. Even if we program together in changing office groups or discuss workflows in Google Meet, it is great to see the many new faces live and to greet the "old" foxes again with a hug.

So "impressive" is the word of the evening... both in relation to the team and the opportunity to see a huge project of the century from a unique perspective. Even if most of us already knew one or two facts about Stuttgart 21, we gained new and exciting insights in this format. Stuttgart 21 is much more than the much-noticed reconstruction of Stuttgart Central Station. It is considered one of the most spectacular construction projects in Europe, the basis for a stronger rail network in the region and a pilot project for digital rail in Germany. The exhibition, which provides exciting information over 4 floors, has interactive multi-touch tables and a huge model that makes Stuttgart21 as a whole understandable.
If you stand at the edge of the new station hall - in the middle of the construction site - you have basically gone from the "test environment" to the "live system" ... you are standing in the middle of impressive architecture made of organically shaped chalice supports. Many are already finished, some are still being built. It has a bit of a futuristic feel ... and a bit of a James Bond backdrop. Tunnels come from all directions, dug under houses and under the city ... through which you can (as mentioned) get from Stuttgart to Munich in 1.5 hours. Wow!
At this point, we could list more exciting things that we learned, but it is better to read about them on the railway project website. https://www.its-projekt.de/ Or even better... just stop by the ITS at Stuttgart Central Station when you're in town! Whether it's a virtual drone flight through the animated station or a live construction site - it's really spectacular!
To let all the impressions sink in, to satisfy our incredible hunger after so much input from the construction site and to toast the evening together, we then went to the Sultan Saray... for a cozy dinner and some boozy fun together. We talked a lot, laughed a lot and had a wonderful evening! All that's left to say is: Dear team... you really are great!
